THE TEACHING ARTIST
Thru a single 40-60 minute Show/Tell/Create curriculum designed for the age group, the Teaching Artist works directly with the children-in-need (K-12) who are otherwise not exposed to the arts and living artists due to financial, geographic, or cultural isolation.
"But I'm not a teacher or a formally trained artist."
Many artists I know are self-taught hobbyists guided by a creative vision you can't learn in school. Teaching your craft requires only a compassionate willingness to pass on your creative intuition to the next generation of artisans.

THE SINGLE-SESSION CURRICULUM |

Part 1 SHOW: The Teaching Artist share his art directly with the children in a short program. A guitarist or singer performs for the young audience, a chef hands out a tasty treat from his kitchen, a writer reads a short story from his journals.
Part 2 TELL: The Teaching Artist share a personal story of creativity, his battle in finding expression, challenges of learning his craft and how he overcame these challenges. |
| Part 3 CREATE: The Teaching Artist breaks down a simple sample of his work and leads the children to experiment with the exercise. This may be thru a simple chord progression with a twist, adding the flair on a kid friendly meal, a lesson in mixing color or breath control while singing. This section brings the curriculum full circle, empowering the children to their own creativity with the encouragement and guidance of a living artist. |

"My first painting was in 10th grade public school art class, tempera on manila paper, creased from folding it up in my backpack 20 years ago. It's framed now, haninging on my wall at home. I've painted and sold many since, but this one is most precious to me."
